Dr. Arnold Rugg

Dr. Arnold Rugg has been practicing veterinary medicine for 25 years. After graduating from New York University with a BA in Classical Civilization, he attended the University of Bologna Veterinary College in Bologna, Italy. Dr. Rugg completed his ECFVG internship at Iowa State University. He practiced small animal medicine and surgery in Long Island and Rhode Island before coming to Kingston in 1980.
Dr. Rugg is past president of the Hudson Valley Veterinary Medical Society. He is an affiliate member of the American Animal Hospital Association and the American Veterinary Society, as well as the American Association of Feline Practitioners. In addition to being the director of the Kingston Animal Hospital, Dr. Rugg maintains his interest in small animal medicine and surgery through practice and continuing education. This includes monthly case reviews, as well as ultrasound consultation sessions.
Dr. Rugg has three dogs and two cats of his own. They are spoiled and treated as family members by him and his family. He expects his patients to be treated with the quality of care and affection he gives his own pets.

Peter Bixby
Dr. Bixby grew up in Madison, New Jersey. He attended Colorado State University, receiving his B.S. with High Distinction in Animal Science in 1979. Following his graduation, he worked with Hoechst-Roussel Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in Bridgewater, NJ while taking graduate course work in physiology and pharmacology at Rutgers University. In 1981, he was accepted into the Veterinary Medicine program at Ohio State University, receiving his DVM in 1985.
Prior to accepting a position at Kingston Animal Hospital in 1987, he worked in a mixed animal practice. Dr. Bixby is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the New York State Veterinary Society. He has interests in orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, endocrinology, and ultrasonography.
Dr. Bixby lives in New Paltz, NY. He is married and has two sons. They have two dogs and a cat.
Beth Alden
Dr. Alden is a graduate of Virginia Tech; she received a BS in Biology and a BS in Animal Science. She received her DVM in 1990 from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. In addition to working part time at Kingston Animal Hospital, Dr. Alden is an Assistant Professor of Biology at Ulster County Community College and directs their veterinary technology program. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and treasurer of the Junior League of Kingston. Dr. Alden is a native of Hurley, NY. She and her daughter Taylor currently live there with their 4 cats (Cookie, Gilbert, Jaq and Gus-Gus) and their golden retriever, Lacey.
